Dear Colleagues,
Welcome to the NJGES web site! My fellow officers and I are excited to announce the upcoming dinner lecture series for the 2004-05 academic year
designed to keep the practicing New Jersey Gastroenterologist at the cutting edge of
patient care.
Our programs will be held on Wednesday evenings beginning at 6:00 PM with cocktails and
dinner followed by an outstanding presentation at 7:30 PM by well-known leaders in our
field. The meeting locations will rotate throughout the Garden State to facilitate your
attendance and we hope that you will "save the dates" and "adjust your
schedules" in order to be a part of the society and share in our enthusiasm. In these
days of hectic schedules, crowded offices, and the daily demands of family life, we seem
to have lost our social and intellectual connection. I hope that the upcoming lecture
series will help rekindle your association with the NJGES. We are an impressive pool of
highly qualified gastroenterologists practicing in the Garden State and have much to share
with one another.
Our first program will be on Wednesday, December 1st at The Manor in West Orange featuring
Daniel Present, MD who will update us on Immunomodulatory Therapy in IBD. Dr. Present is
an internationally known IBD expert, a superb lecturer, and a clinician's clinician. On
Wednesday April 13, 2005. Jerome Waye, MD will lecture at the Ninety Grand Grill
Restaurant in Englewood on recent Innovations in Endoscopic Therapy. Dr. Waye is well
known as a master endoscopist and superb clinician whose long experience will undoubtedly
serve up a few "pearls". Finally, on Wednesday June 1st, Charles Lightdale, MD
will be our featured speaker on Endoscopic Ultrasound. Dr. Lightdale is a recognized
international expert in this innovative field that has broadened the frontiers of
diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. The location will be The Stony Hill Inn in
Hackensack. Each lecture will earn 1 hour of Category 1 CME credit. |
My thanks go out to our Immediate Past President George
Abdelsayed, MD, Vice President Michael Meininger, MD, and Secretary-Treasurer Mark
Sapienza, MD for their help in relaunching the society. We sincerely hope that you will
join us for these exciting and informative evenings. It will be "time well
spent".
A nominal fee of $20 per person will be charged to members for each lecture. My thanks to
Jeffrey Hoffman of Proctor & Gamble for his company's support of the December 1st
event and Rosa Rich of Astra-Zeneca for her company's support for the June 1st dinner
program.
